SR015 – Part 2: Bo Knows, Lee Sleeps, Shoplifters and Retro Sports

Part 2 of Episode 15 starts with absolute studio chaos and only gets dumber from there — in the best possible way. The guys kick things off with a weekend recap from the shop, where a simple sale turns into a parade of weirdos, stolen socks, suspicious backpacks, busted laptops, a mysterious hurricane lamp pitch, and one unforgettable character who may or may not have been Kittanning’s least subtle thief. From there, Lerndog takes us through his NFL Draft adventure in Pittsburgh, complete with cheap parking, missed live music, street freestyle rap, random bar stops, and the birth of #220LeeSleeping — because nothing says “big weekend” like being fully mummified in a hotel bed by mid-afternoon. Then the boys dive headfirst into retro sports chaos: baseball mullets vs. mustaches, Randy Johnson vs. Rollie Fingers energy, Griffey vs. Bonds in 1992, whether Bo Jackson would have been the greatest athlete ever, Tecmo Bowl vs. Madden, personal MLB/NFL Mount Rushmore picks, favorite broadcasters, legendary rivalries, and the childhood baseball cards they would still fight somebody over. And just when the episode almost becomes a respectable sports podcast, it swerves into Funko Pops, Fritzy’s, Willie, party stories, and the debut of the instant classic: “Golfing Clown.” It’s weird. It’s nostalgic. It’s probably too honest. It’s Shaffer RULES. Grab a drink, hit that Dubby button, and enjoy another ridiculous, honest, and fun-filled ride with the Shaffer RULES Podcast. SR015 – Part 1: Mad Dog, Lerndog & the Pirate Parrot Drug Scandal

The Shaffer RULES Podcast is back with Episode 15 – Part 1, and somehow the guys made it through Lee Grafton’s 50th birthday party with enough brain cells left to record. Barely. This episode features the show’s first in-studio guest, Michael “Lerndog” Lehner, who joins the crew for a night of bad decisions, worse beverages, and stories that probably should have stayed in the early ’90s. The guys finally uncover the origin of the legendary Lerndog nickname, which involves Moondog, high school party lore, and the kind of name-calling that becomes permanent before you even realize your life has changed. The show kicks off with music from Love Dumpster, a band name that deserves respect before you even hear a note. The guys talk about the song, Isaac Jackson’s drumming, and the band’s upcoming Millvale Music Festival appearance. Then they get the sponsor shoutouts rolling with Dubby Energy and Maono, because even chaos needs proper hydration and microphones that can survive Mad Dog fumes. For Pour of the Week, the guys revisit a beverage that has ruined more college nights than fake IDs and bad tattoos: Mad Dog 20/20. Orange Jubilee, Blue Raspberry, Banana Red, and Strawberry Kiwi all enter the studio. Not all of them leave with dignity. Corey’s Find of the Week starts with autographed Pittsburgh Pirates baseballs, including Henry Davis and Dale Berra, and somehow turns into a full-blown history lesson on the 1985 Pittsburgh drug trials, the Pirate Parrot, and the era when Major League Baseball apparently had more powder than the first day of ski season. From there, the episode goes completely off the rails — which is really just “on brand.” The guys talk about Pete the Penguin, Pittsburgh’s original live mascot who had a tragically short career, Hulk Hogan’s questionable life choices, old-school wrestling, the worst finishing move in history, pizza-chef wrestlers, closed-circuit TV, cassettes, mix tapes, old a cappella recordings, Zippo Hot Tour memories, a surprise workout tape from Roy’s Mom, and another voicemail from Willie, who may or may not have seen a titty at Lee’s party. It’s local music, retro sports, wrestling nostalgia, Pittsburgh weirdness, and three grown men voluntarily drinking Mad Dog on purpose. So, yes, this is Part 1. SR014 – Part 2: Car Jitsu, NFL Draft Chaos & Kicked in the Dick by a Chick Remix

In Episode 14 – Part 2 of the Shaffer RULES Podcast, the guys pick things back up with a full dose of nonsense, sports talk, and live chaos from Pittsburgh during NFL Draft week. The episode kicks off with a look at some truly bizarre sports, including Car Jitsu, where two people wrestle inside a car, and the equally ridiculous idea of Chess Boxing. The guys also call in to check on Lee and Lerndog live from downtown Pittsburgh as the NFL Draft festivities take over the city. The conversation quickly turns into a Penguins playoff rant, with Lee breaking down what went wrong, why the Pens fell into Rick Tocchet-style hockey, and what he thinks the Steelers might do on draft day. This episode also features a classic Shaffer Rule of the Week, focused on bad drivers, Pittsburgh lefts, and why people need to stop holding up traffic by “being nice.” From there, the show rolls into Put-in-Bay stories, storm memories, pool parties, stickers around town, fake sponsors, local music shoutouts, and the debut of a new musical masterpiece: the remix and rap version of “Kicked in the Dick by a Chick at Regionals.” As always, the episode is packed with inside jokes, Pittsburgh references, hockey frustration, questionable music, sponsor shoutouts, and the kind of ridiculous conversation that makes Shaffer RULES what it is. Episode 14 – Part 1: Fritzy’s, Wrestling Legends & Getting Kicked in the Dick by a Chick Shaffer RULES is back with Episode 14 – Part 1, and this one starts exactly how it should: with an absolutely ridiculous original Fritzy’s commercial/song that sets the tone for the entire episode. SR013 – Part 2: Famous Ray, Hotline Chaos & Erik’s Yacht Rock Moment

Episode 13 – Part 2: Famous Ray, Hotline Chaos & Erik’s Yacht Rock Moment The Shaffer RULES Podcast is back for Episode 13 – Part 2, picking up after the break with more nonsense, local stories, sports talk, and a little bit of sponsor love. In this episode, Brian and Corey recap their first-ever podcast guest appearance with Erik Winger, then dive into their Dubby energy drink pitch before heading back to the creek for the legend of “Famous Ray” — an 80-something trout fisherman who had the first day of trout season of a lifetime. After catching two 20-plus-inch trout, taking a dive in the creek, and later being spotted at Walmart, Ray officially becomes part of Shaffer RULES history. The guys also check the Shaffer RULES hotline, featuring confusing inside jokes, obnoxious “hello” messages, and Willie from Fritzy’s calling in with a very important public service announcement. From there, the conversation veers into local bar stories, Vince’s Tavern, strange memories, and the ongoing mystery of where you may or may not see a boob. Later, Brian and Corey react to wild team fighting videos, talk UFC, boxing, Penguins playoff hopes, Pirates baseball, Toronto Blue Jays heartbreak, the possible return of the Seattle SuperSonics, and why golf is really just Sunday nap fuel. The episode wraps with a spotlight on Maono microphones and a full-on appreciation of Erik Winger’s song “Reina” from his album “You Can Have All You Want” — complete with yacht rock commentary, fake video direction, dirty martinis, boats, rain, guitar solos, and plenty of Shaffer RULES absurdity. SR013 – Part 1: Erik Winger Joins the Shaffer RULES Madness

In Episode 13 – Part 1 of the Shaffer RULES Podcast, Corey and Brian kick things off with original music, new shades, new kicks, sponsor shoutouts, and the official “Pour of the Week,” featuring Buffalo Trace bourbon. The guys also give some love to Dubby Energy and Maono, including the wireless PD200W microphones and headphones helping power the podcast. This episode takes its usual unpredictable path through reseller life, bulk finds, Fitzgerald’s store closing, hats, socks, Funko Pops, Shaffer RULES Podcast stickers, Elk Brewing, karaoke nights, old local bars, and the newly established Shaffer RULES Podcast, “RULE of the Week”: Never assume a woman is pregnant! The highlight of this episode is a call-in conversation with Erik Winger, a musician originally from Kittanning, PA, now based in Orlando, Florida. Erik joins the show to talk about performing as Peter Criss in KISS Alive: The Tribute, including recent shows, full-stage tribute performances, pyro, fire breathing, blood spitting, and what it takes to keep the classic KISS experience alive on stage. Erik also opens up about his own music career, including his solo albums, songwriting process, and the long journey of finishing creative projects. He shares how his first album began years before it was completed, why it was eventually shelved, and what pushed him to finally return to the recordings and finish the project. The conversation gets into recording studios, creative momentum, working with talented producers and engineers, writing across different musical styles, and the pressure of following up a first album with new material. The guys also get into the wild new world of AI-generated music, including Erik’s experience running his original song “Bones” through Suno. Erik talks about using AI as a creative tool to reimagine a song in different styles, how quickly Suno generated fully produced versions, and where he draws the line between inspiration, experimentation, and claiming ownership of music created by artificial intelligence. The conversation also includes Brian’s hilarious early attempt at using AI to write a love song, which somehow turned into an accidental Ed Sheeran situation. From KISS tribute stories to original songwriting, AI music, unfinished albums, wedding songs, music history, reseller chaos, and small-town memories, this episode has a little bit of everything — exactly how the Shaffer RULES Podcast likes it. They swap stories about digitizing old tapes, lost homemade radio shows, local bands, and the musicians who made an impact along the way. The heart of this episode is a tribute to Lee Grafton, who wraps up an incredible 11-year run building the Armstrong Arrows National Bound hockey program into something respected far beyond the local scene.
